We are beyond excited to announce (for the second time!) that we are recipients of an NEA ArtWorks Grant. This year, the NEA funded 1,023 community-based projects and we are honored our work was recognized. Our grant will support phase two (you heard that right) of the Making LA series.
Kicking off this September, the new series, entitled “Making LA: Connect, Flourish, Thrive, Prosper,” will once again focus on the issues of Transportation, Water, Density and Community. This time, though, our goal is to bring designer- and artist-driven solutions to those issues to life. The series will include a year of twelve targeted programs, which will also become working groups for designers, architects and artists who are developing solutions. Then in spring 2016, after a year of detailed exploration of these themes, each group will make a proposal at a de LaB design charette. In this way, we hope to turn the original Making LA conference into a long-term call-to-action and turn in-person inspiration into four real-world solutions for the city.
A huge thanks to the NEA and all of our supporters for everything you do to support de LaB! We are excited to embark on another year of great design and new discoveries together!
